The Myth Dawncrest cap is gone. That means you can now fully upgrade your entire gear set — if you know which farming methods are actually worth your time.
Here's every current source of Myth Dawncrests ranked by efficiency, including one that most guides are already sleeping on.
Myth Dawncrests are the top-tier upgrade currency in Midnight Season 1. You use them to push your gear to its maximum item level. With the weekly cap removed as of this week, there's no ceiling — the only limit is how many hours you want to grind.
So the only real question is: which method gives you the most crests per hour?
| Method | Crests per Run | Time per Run | Weekly Limit | Solo-Friendly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 5 Ritual Sites (Zul'Aman) | ~20 Hero → trade for Myth | ~7–8 min | None | ✅ Yes |
| Mythic+ Dungeons (Key 9–12) | 10–16 Myth | 20–40 min | None | ❌ Group needed |
| Tier 6 Ritual Sites (12.0.7+) | 5 Myth | ~10–15 min | None | ✅ Yes |
| Mythic Raid | Variable | 2–4 hrs | Lockout applies | ❌ Group needed |
| T11 Delves | 5 Myth | ~20 min | 4× per week | ✅ Yes |
| Hero → Myth Uptrade | 10 Myth per 30 Hero | Depends | None | ✅ Yes |

This one is flying under the radar right now — and it shouldn't be.
Tier 5 Ritual Sites in Zul'Aman award 20 Hero Dawncrests per completion. Three runs take roughly 20–24 minutes. That's 60 Hero crests per session, which you then trade at 30:10 ratio for 20 Myth Dawncrests — all solo, all unlimited, zero chance of failure.
Compare that to a Mythic+ key: 20–40 minutes per run, 10–16 crests, and you need a group that doesn't fall apart at the first wipe.
The catch: Tier 5 Ritual Sites only spawn when the Zul'Aman ritual site rotation is active. Check the world map before you commit to the route — but when it's up, this is the single most efficient solo farm in Season 1 right now.

For players who have reliable groups or are comfortable in pugs, Mythic+ remains king on raw crest output:
If you're timing your keys consistently and have a stable team, stack as many runs as you can while the cap is off. The window won't stay open forever.
Not timing your keys yet? A boosted run with experienced players doesn't just give you the crests — you can watch how the pulls are handled and come back to your own keys with a cleaner gameplan. See our Mythic+ boost options →

Once Patch 12.0.7 drops, Tier 6 Ritual Sites become a repeatable Myth crest source — 5 crests per completion, no lockout. That's significantly better than T11 Delves for solo players who've already capped their four weekly Delve completions.
Ritual Sites complete faster than a typical Mythic+ dungeon and require zero group coordination. For solo players, this patch changes the gearing ceiling entirely — crafting becomes viable at a rate it hasn't been before.
Until 12.0.7 arrives, prioritize Tier 5 sites in Zul'Aman (see above) as your unlimited solo source.

T11 Delves reward 5 Myth Dawncrests upon hitting Rank 4 on the renown track — but only 4 times per week. That's 20 crests total, which isn't nothing, but it's a floor, not a ceiling.
Run your four Delves every reset. Don't rely on them as a primary farm. Their value is in completing the weekly without needing a group, not in stacking hundreds of crests.

The 30 Hero Dawncrests → 10 Myth Dawncrests exchange isn't efficient math on its own — you're grinding three times more crests for the same output. But it has a specific use case:
You've outgrown your Hero-track upgrades. You're sitting on a pile of Hero crests with nothing to spend them on. Trading them up gets you those last few Myth crests before your next raid night without running another Mythic+ key at 11pm.
Use it as a cleanup tool, not a primary strategy.

Mythic raids award Myth Dawncrests too, but they come with a coordination cost that makes them impractical for most players to use as a farming loop. Lockouts apply, forming a group takes time, and wipe nights eat into your crests-per-hour hard.
If you're already raiding Mythic for progression, great — the crests come naturally. If you're not, don't start a Mythic raid purely for currency farming.
The cap being removed is a gift if you have the time to farm. For most players, the realistic path is: clear your T11 Delves on Tuesday, run Zul'Aman Ritual Sites when they're up, and push Mythic+ keys with a group you trust.
If the group part is where it breaks down — whether it's key availability, timing out, or just not having a consistent team — that's a problem a boost solves cleanly. You get the crests, the vault progress, and your gear moving again without reorganising your entire week around a pug.
